ROUTE DESCRIPTION (December 2011)

From back of car park, uphill 200m to thicket & turn L at waymark. Cross footbridge & meadow on indistinct footpath, Thro’ gap behind t/graph pole to waymark in hedge & turn R towards house, hedge on L. At house cross footbridge on L.

Q1. What is the name of the house?

Down hill on track. At village green, turn L across grass & with care, cross road. Turn L & in a few metres turn R on footpath. Turn L into playing field & in corner by “dog” sign, go straight on into trees. Go down steps to the L, cross footbridge & bear R up bank. Near the top, bear L to field & footpath. Ahead on footpath to a crossing track & turn R. At road turn L & in 120m, turn R on footpath. Follow L hedge & cross stile in far corner. Ahead to an open gateway in hedge on L & change sides. Ahead in same direction on track, (later a footpath), 1.5km.

Q2. Just before the road is a small electrical installation. What is the location shown on the fence?.

Turn L on road & in 500m, just before national speed limit sign, turn L on footpath, hedge on L. At the top of hill, at waymark, turn R x-field. Ahead on grass footpath & to R of farm buildings. Cross farm drive & turn L on field edge towards line of trees. Turn R, trees on R. Ahead at next waymark & in field corner, at waymark in trees, turn L on enclosed footpath. In 250m turn L & at end, cross stile into farm garden. Follow waymarks to L side of pond. In farmyard, after 1st building on L, turn L on concrete track.

Q3. In 30m on R, what is the location shown on electicity pole?

In 100m, at paddock on R, cross stile & follow direction of finger post, across paddock, small field and big field to L end of wood. At waymark, ahead x-field to gap L of oak tree. Straight on in next field (footpath does not follow L field edge). At waymark on L corner, turn L & R, 2 oak trees on L. At road, cross with care to footpath opposite & ahead to L end of white houses.

Turn L on road & in 120m, turn R on footpath towards 3rd t/graph pole. Pass the pole & a yellow post & in about 30m turn L between crops. In corner of field, cross ditch (no FB) & turn R on enclosed footpath. Ahead to road & turn L. In 350m, cross footbridge on R & thro’ grassed-over remains of medieval castle. Enter churchyard and turn L, hedge on L. Leave churchyard on gravel track & at road, turn L. Cross footbridge to R of ford and turn R on road to T junc. & pub.
