ROUTE DESCRIPTION (December 2011)
From rear of car park, ahead on footpath. At end, ahead x-field . Go thro’ open gateway & turn L on track. When track bends L, keep ahead on footpath. At road turn R & in 130m, turn L on footpath. Cross stile by gate, then two more stiles & exit to road between houses. Turn L & in 100m, turn R on footpath. At field, turn R & follow field edge to gateway. Turn R along field edge, and in next corner turn L.
Q1. What is not allowed?
Ahead along three fields for 1.3km. At the end of 3rd field, go thro’ gap in hedge & turn L. Thro’ gateway in corner & turn R. Ahead 800m to t/graph pole at top of hill. In a few metres, at waymark, turn L x-field to waymark in hedge. 5m L of waymark, go down steps & cross stile ahead & follow waymarks round L side of pond.
In the farmyard, keep R side & exit on track bearing R. Stay on track & at crossing track at top of field, turn L. (Roman road) Ahead 1km to road & turn L. In 500m. when road bends R, go ahead into Thurrocks Farm. Ahead thro’ a wicket gate, ahead across lawn & ahead x-field.. At waymark on L corner, ahead with ditch on R. Go round a dog-leg & into wood. Follow good waymarks.
Exit wood & turn L on field edge; follow waymarks, hedge on L. Ahead to cross stile/footbridge in corner. Bear R across paddocks & turn R on road. Ahead to former mill, now a house, on L.
Q2. What is the name of the house?
30m past the mill turn L on footpath and ahead 1km. At crossing track before the last field, turn R & ahead to road. Turn L to T junction and pub.
