At some points on this walk you may see some Academy arrows, either screwed to posts etc. or stuck on road signs. These are markers for The Academy Four Day event in September. The red, blue and green arrows should be ignored. There are several times when the yellow arrows point the way in this walk, but they are NOT markers for this walk, so please keep to the route description. gnore all larger, circular signs – these are for the cycling event in September.

Leave The Academy and take the road opposite, church on the left. Pass a pond on the right then take the footpath on the right signposted Barrow Green/Burthorpe Green. There is a cemetery on the left. Continue with hedge on right and open land to the left.
At junction, follow yellow arrow straight on, field on left the other side of the path to the left , hedge on right.
Continue ahead into next field. In the corner of this field, go straight on, following yellow arrow.
In about 100 metres, where track divides, follow the yellow arrow to the left. Pass between houses, garages on the right, to the road. (1.2k)
Cross the road and follow tarmac footpath ahead between the houses. Pass a pond on your right, then left. Exit the path with a green/ main road in front of you.
Cross the road, and take the road opposite signposted Denham 1½, Dalham 3½.
Continue to cross roads. (1.6k).Turn left, along Barrow Hill, signposted Hargrave 2½, Wickhambrook 6 and in about 200 metres, turn left onto public footpath (signposted) just after the Doctor’s Surgery and just before a high hedge.(1.8k). There are four Academy arrows.
As path becomes a grassy track, go straight on following yellow public footpath arrow and four Academy arrows, hedge on left, field on right. At next yellow public footpath and four Academy arrows, go right then left, and as path turns right, before a gap in the hedge, turn left almost immediately along grassy track, hedge on right.(2.3k). There are four Academy arrows on a telegraph pole showing straight ahead.
Follow path along an old river bed. Exit the river bed by bearing left with a broken yellow public footpath way marker showing right and at second, IMMEDIATE yellow public footpath marker, turn right along a grassy track. There are also four Academy arrows.
As grassy track meets a farm track, bear left and follow to enter farm. (Visible once you exit the river bed and turn right) (3.1k) Ignore three Academy arrows pointing to the right: follow yellow arrow ahead.

Exit the woods (6.3k)) and follow yellow public footpath arrow and Academy arrow showing track with hedge on left and field on right. The track bends left then, as it bears right, passes through a gap in the hedge, with the hedge now on the right and a field on the left.
