DERBYSHIRE

Beeley & Chatsworth House Walk (PT 127) 12km Grade 2Chatsworth
Organised by British Walking Federation
The route is strenuous in parts and can be slippery after rain. Most of the climbing is within the first 4km to the ridge behind Chatsworth House, to give magnificent views over the estate to the hills beyond.

Two Dales Riverside Ramble (PT 136) 14km Grade 2+
Organised by Lincolnshire Vikings Walking Club
The walk is along gentle Bradford Dale and rugged Lathkill Dale through a natural Nature Reserve, passing remnants of the industrial past. It is generally flat on good footpaths, but there is one steep slope including over 100 steps.

Caverns & Peaks Walk (PT 137) 13km Grade 3
Organised by Lincolnshire Vikings Walking Club
This walk takes you through Winnatts Pass and up to Mam Tor where the views are worth the climb. The walk continues along the ridge passing Black Tor and Losehill Pike Ward's Piece before descending into Hope. The route then follows the river along the valley back into Castleton.

Head & Dales Walk (PT 138) 15km Grade 2+
Organised by Lincolnshire Vikings Walking Club
From the old Millers Dale station,  walk parts of the Monsal Trail, including (for 2012) two of the re-opened tunnels,  Cross over the viaduct and climb up to Monsal Head for the famous view. Return following the river along Monsal Dale via Brushfield and High Dale.

The Reservoirs Ramble (PT 155) 22km Grade 3
Organised by the BWF National Committee
A contrasting walk alongside Ladybower and Derwent Reservoirs, and then a high level stretch along Derwent Edge, also woodland and moorland, there are two steep slopes. The Derwent was built between 1901 and 1916, and Ladybower between 1935 and 1945.

LINCOLNSHIRE

Stamford Tourist Trail (PT 18) 10km Grade 1
Organised by Ise Valley Vagabonds
Visit this picturesque stone built town dating from Roman times. Pass through Burghley House grounds (not open when the Horse Trials are taking place - early September every year) before returning to the town.

Lincoln Tourist Walk (PT 92) 10km Grade 1+
Organised by Lincolnshire Vikings Walking Club
Lincoln Cathedral dominates but with a Castle, Abbey, Arboretum, Museums, Brayford Pool, old walls, excavations and gateways on route, there is plenty to see. Steep Hill will prove Lincolnshire is not flat. Can be started at bus/train station.

Boston Town Walk (PT 139) 12km Grade 1
Organised by Lincolnshire Vikings Walking Club
Boston is a historic market town with many places of interest. See the Stump (St Botolphs Church), Maud Foster Windmill and Guildhall Museum. Can be started at the bus/train station and be pushchair friendly with a slight detour (ask for details).

Lincoln Town & Country Walk (PT 166) 14km Grade 2+
Organised by Lincolnshire Vikings Walking Club
14km - Closes at the end of 2011.Walk along the Lincoln "cliff", through farmland, parks and woodlands. See much of the rich heritage of Lincoln's past. Can be linked with the Lincoln Tourist walk at the Central Market.
Changing for 2012 to 5/11km Grade 1/2+
5km - Walk from the South Common to Boultham Park via the River Witham.
11km - Walk along the Lincoln "cliff", through farmland and by the river.  See some of the rich heritage of Lincoln's past. Can be started at the bus/train station or linked with the Lincoln Tourist Walk at the Central Market.

Way of the Vikings (PT 179) 239km Grade 2+

A walk through glorious countryside from the river Humber heading south through, Caistor, Walesby, Woodhall Spa before turning west to reach the city of Lincoln. From the ancient walls of Lincoln the way heads south again through Wellingore to Oakham.

Louth "Capital of the Wolds" (PT 193) 20km Grade 2+

20km - Closes at the end of 2011. Walk over the Lincolnshire wolds with many breathtaking views. In contrast you also pass through wooded vales and get a chance to see the mighty redwoods, Hubbards Hills, a local beauty spot and make a historic journey through the market town of Louth.
Changing for 2012 to 5/10km Grade 1/2
5km - Walk through the historic town of Louth and the local beauty spot of Hubbards Hills.
10km - Walk onto the Lincolnshire Wolds with their surrounding views. In contrast the route passes through wooded areas and farmland and then into the historic town of Louth.

NORTHAMPTONSHIRE

Wellingborough Permanent Trail (PT 15) 11km Grade 1
Organised by Ise Valley Vagabonds
A tour of Waendel town utilising parts of the cycleway network. The route incorporates some familiar landmarks including the "IVV Tree" in Swanspool Gardens.

Kettering Permanent Trail (PT 57) 14km Grade 2
Organised by Ise Valley Vagabonds
A stroll through town centre leads to the pretty villages of Weekley and Warkton, returning alsong side the River Ise which bring you to  Wicksteed Park and back to town.

Daventry Permanent Trail (PT 165) 11km Grade 2
Organised by Ise Valley Vagabonds
Explore the town, climb up to the old broadcasting station and enjoy the panaromic views. Visit the country park and then return to town via a disused railway line and cycleway.

The Swan Waddle (PT 221) 13Km Grade: 2
Rockinghan Forest Walkers
This is a delightful walk starting from the charming village of Newton Bromswold. The route meanders across the exquisite Northamptonshire countryside.

Higham Ferrers Jubilee Trail (PT 243) 10km Grade 1

Jubilee logoThis Jubilee PT starts from Higham Ferrers, where some of the most historic buildings, are owned by the Duchy of Lancaster. The current Duchy of Lancaster is HM the Queen. As part of a tour of her Duchy estate The Queen visited Higham Ferrers on 3rd May 1985 which included a walk about of Higham Ferrers from the Market Square.

NOTTINGHAMSHIRE

Nottingham City Trail (PT 100) 10km Grade 1
Organised by Lincolnshire Vikings Walking Club
The walk includes a pleasant stretch along the River Trent, Nottingham Canal, several museums - Castle, Brewhouse Yard, Canal, Lace, Textile, Costume, and the Galleries of Justice, also the new Magistrates Courts.

The Way to a Windmill (PT 126) 12km Grade 2
Organised by British Walking FederationWay to a windmill
An enjoyable walk taking you along the Trent Valley Way, and around to the Windmill at North Leverton, before returning to the village. The walk is on well defined footpaths, but there are frequent stiles.

Newark on Trent Jubilee Trail (PT 241) 10km Grade 1

Newark Castle has stood proud on the banks of the River Trent for nearly 900 years. In addition Newark is an attractive market town with many facets of history reflected in its streets and buildings. The church treasury has Maundy Money given to residents in 1984 which is on view from time to time.

RUTLAND

Rutland Ramble (PT 213) 11Km Grade 2
Organised by Rockingham Forest Walkers
An entertaining walk starting from the picturesque village of Manton, the route just touches Rutland Water; a large drinking water reservoir then passes through Egleton, a typical Rutland village best known for its nature reserve.
