DIRECTIONS FROM NEAREST TOWN: Worthing or Horsham - Leave the A24 only at the roundabout sign posted to Findon (DO NOT TAKE ANY OTHER ROAD OFF THE A24 to Findon). Continue down into village and in approximately 250m at
cross roads proceed carefully across main road, (the cross-roads is blind on both sides), continue straight over into The Square and park in marked parking spaces on Left Hand side or in road close by.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT: Bus every hour from Pulborough Train Station (buses stop almost at start of walk)

With your back to the parking spaces, continue to walk left along The Square and proceed through the village passing Cissbury Retail Shop on left and The Village Shop on right and immediately bear left up Nepcote Lane. Continue up lane passing Summerfield private road on the left and Paddock Way on the right and as road bears round to the right, go straight ahead following sign to Cissbury Ring with no through road sign and end of speed restriction signs. Continue up road passing house on right called Thistledown and house on left called Bramblings and continue on lane for appx 800m to reach car park on left. Turn right through gate passing National Trust information board on Cissbury Ring, on right, proceed straight ahead through kissing gate and continue up hill on stepped footpath and at very top of steps turn right and proceed in an anti-clockwise direction around the rim of The Ring, keeping to well defined footpath ignoring all cross tracks for appx 1200m passing wood on right. At far east end of The Ring go down steps and turn right to kissing gate beside wide metal five bar gate.
Go through kissing gate and bear left down to small wooden five bar gate beside metal five bar gate, pass through and turn left onto public bridleway and descend to reach car park again. Go through parking area leaving The Ring behind you and proceed on main track north for approximately 3kms, ignoring all cross tracks, passing through a wide open space, track crossing, and large copse on right, shortly after which is a public bridleway bearing off on the left which you ignore and continue to the right on the main public bridleway, mauve arrow, to pass small copse on your left. Eventually the track rises to give way to a spectacular view of the countryside ahead to join the South Downs Way.
Turn left and follow the mauve arrow proceeding uphill along the South Downs Way keeping woodland on right over cattle grid and walk on the main track passing 'Chanctonbury Ring' on right. Continue on South Downs Way following mauve arrow, pass over cattle grid with DEFRA notice board and Chanctonbury Dew Pond on right.
Continue on track and at fork go left following the mauve arrow, and in appx 25m at further fork take either track since they both rejoin, and start a slow descent on track passing an old rusty water tank on right and in appx 1000m at cross tracks turn left immediately passing gas pipeline concrete post on left. Continue descending down this track for approximately 500m and as track bears slightly round to the left and before reaching farm cottages and buildings, bear right through five bar gate and follow blue arrow public bridleway up the field to reach gate at top. Pass through gate, cross lane and through a further gate proceed diagonally to the left up field to reach gate. Go through and cross track and proceed straight ahead on public bridleway passing house on left.
Pass Gallops Farm on your right and join concrete road and continue for approximately 1000m keeping the village Findon on your right. Continue on tarmac road downhill with bungalows on left and right, passing Ivy Arch Close on left, follow road descending round to the right passing Kilmore Close and Beech Road on right to T junction and end of walk.
