LONDON

London (Hampstead) Permanent Walk (PT 16) - 12km  Grade 1
Organised by Ise Valley Vagabonds
The route is on pavement, gravelled paths and some unmade woodland paths.  There are several gentle inclines but it is suitable for pushchairs.   Hampstead Heath is the highest land mass in London, and as a result you can enjoy panoramic views over our Capital City.  Stroll past residences of famous citizens, past and present.  Enjoy traffic-free sections of the route, knowing that you are surrounded by the bustle of a busy city. 
 
London (Hogarth) Permanent Walk (PT 17) - 18km  Grade 1
Organised by Ise Valley Vagabonds
The route is almost entirely pavements.  The route passes stately squares and Royal palaces, trendy shops and antique dealers, concert halls and museums, parks and riverside.  No single walk can possibly incorporate all the sights of London, but this will show off many of the popular tourist attractions as well as some of the less well-known places.  Allow at least half a day to do it justice.   This is a pushchair friendly route, other than a few steps there are no inclines worth mentioning.  There are plenty of pubs, cafes, etc. for refreshments and also plenty of public toilets.
 
Westminster & City of London Trail  (PT 70) - 10km  Grade 1
Organised by Capiltal Trails Walking Club
Westminster and City of London is a linear walk starting at Westminster tube station and finishing at Tower Bridge. It takes you past quite a few of the tourist sites, including Westminster Abbey, Houses of Parliament with Big Ben, St James Park, Buckingham Palace, Horse Guards, Downing Street, the Cenotaph, Trafalgar Square, Nelson's Column, the National Gallery, St Paul's Cathedral, the Monument (Great Fire of London) finally to the Tower of London and Tower Bridge. There a many more sites just off the route.
 
Royal London Trail  (PT 94) - 12km  Grade 1
Organised by North London Walking Club
After strolling through Hyde Park (King Henry VIII's hunting grounds), you emerge into the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, home to the Chelsea Pensioners.  You then continue to the City of Westminster, passing Buckingham Palace and St James Palace
 
Clerkenwell & City Trail (PT 95) - 10km  Grade 1
Organised by North London Walking Club
Travel south from the Angel into the medieval suburb of Clerkenwell, passing 12th Century monasteries, and enter the City at Newgate (Old Bailey), then onto London's most prominent landmark, Sir Christopher Wren's masterpiece St Paul's Cathedral.
 
South Bank Trail (PT 96) - 11km  Grade 1
Organised by North London Walking Club
Walk along London's main artery, the River Thames, from Tower Bridge to Vauxhall Bridge, passing Shakespeare's Globe Theatre, Sir Francis Drake's Golden Hind and the Clink Prison Museum.  On the way you will be met with panoramic views.
 
Maritime Heritage Trail (PT 97) - 11km  Grade 1
Organised by North London Walking Club
Journey from the Tower of London through London's re-developed Docklands, to maritime Greenwich, birthplace of Henry VIII, and the 'Centre of Time'.  Here you will find the 'Cutty Sark', Inigo Jones' Queen's House and Sir Christopher Wren's RN College.
 
Hampstead & Highgate Trail (PT 120) - 12km  Grade 2
Organised by North London Walking Club
This walk follows the high ground north of London and offers spectacular views across the city from Alexandra Palace and Parliament Hill.  Halfway between these two points can be found Highgate Wood and Highgate Village, one of Dick Turpin's haunts.
 
Richmond Trail (PT 135) - 12km  Grade 1
Organised by North London Walking Club
Starting at Richmond, site of Henry VII's Tudor Palace, you follow the River Thames west to Ham House before crossing over and travelling east, passing Marble Hill House, Syron House and the Kew Bridge Steam Museum then back over the river to Kew Gardens.
 
The City Church Trail (PT 142) - 11km  Grade 1

The story of London's churches is the story of the City itself.  There were 109 churches and the route takes you past forty of the surviving fifty two, dating from the 10th to the 20th Century.  Most are the work of Sir Christopher Wren.
 
Pilgrim Trail  (PT 174) - 14km  Grade 1

From Canada Water, you pass Greenland and Nelson docks, part of the Surrey Quays, on your way to the starting point of the Mayflower's journey to America.  You then travel to the site of the Tabard Inn, starting point of Chaucer's Canterbury Tales.
