The Queen Walk (Chester)

City pavement, grass riverside path and a
circuit of the City Wall - paved, with occasional steps. The route
shows many facets of this beautiful city - busy shopping centre,
delightful buildings old and modern, Roman remains, the racecourse and
of course, a stroll along the River Dee.

This walk starts on the shore of Lake Windermere
in Bowness following the lake side and crossing England's largest lake
by ferry. On the western side of the lake the walker can look out
for red squirrels (still found in the area) and then walk on to Hill Top
at Sawrey, the cottage where Beatrix Potter lived when she wrote and
illustrated her famous Peter Rabbit books.The cottage is owned by the
National Trust and is open at certain times of the year. The walk
continues through beautiful undulating countryside and eventually
returns to the ferry to cross back to Bowness. En-route the walker can
enjoy the hospitality at the Sawrey Hotel and the 'Claife Crier' Inn.
Ambleside Amble

Organised by British Walking Federation
This walk starts in Ambleside and goes over
Wansfell Pike to Troutbeck. The views back over Windermere are
magnificent and the well defined paths easy to follow. The walk should
be started around 10.30am to enable to walker to arrive at the correct
time at the Mortal Man Inn for a well earned pub lunch. The route also
passes the church and comes back via the Post Office which offers home
made teas. The return route is via a lower route but this also has
interesting views at Jenkin Crag.

A city walk around Liverpool visiting many of the places connected with
the Beatles. The walk also gives views of some of the magnificent
architecture to be found in the city. You will pass Lime Street
Station, as well as both the Anglican & Roman Catholic Cathedrals, and
view the spectacular entrance gate to Chinatown.
