DIRECTIONS:
Take Station Road
to centre of Horsted Keynes & turn into Lewes Road (opposite ‘The
Forge’ – Postcode RH17 7AT) following car park
sign. Immediately turn left, then right
CAR PARKING: At start venue.
FACILITIES: There are no facilities at the start venue.
PUBLIC TRANSPORT: Bus service within 1km of start
TERRAIN: Footpaths, bridleways & minor roads. Not suitable for pushchairs.
PLEASE REMEMBER TO
Leave car park on entrance/exit road & bear left to reach road. Turn right & at cross roads go straight ahead onto tarmac lane passing between concrete bollards. Follow lane downhill to road junction. Go straight ahead on road downhill towards church in distance. Follow lane to reach church. Bear left in front of church on single track road following ‘Sussex Border Path’. Pass school on right & continue ahead on lane to reach metal gate. Go ahead, bearing left on footpath to enter woods. Follow track downhill through woods passing lake on right. Continue ahead on track passing a series of ponds on your left. Pass metal gate & at track junction turn left following ‘West Sussex Border Path’. Follow track uphill to reach house. Go through stone gateway & turn right on ‘West Sussex Border Path’ & after approx 50m turn left.

Follow tarmac driveway
to reach junction with road. Turn left & follow lane for approx. 225m to reach
road junction. Turn right towards ‘Forest Row’ & ‘
Question 2:
How many horizontal bars does the gate have?
Turn right over stile & go ahead on footpath between trees. Path bears left to reach stile. Cross stile & go ahead following left hand edge of field for approx. 50m before turning left by footpath sign. Cross stile & follow footpath between wooden fences to reach bridge. Turn left over bridge. (N.B. The station to the right is Horstead Keynes station). Go across railway bridge to reach gate. Go through gate & bear right through car park & follow track uphill with railway on right. After approx. 150m & at top of hill, turn left towards kissing gate. Go through kissing gate & follow footpath with fields on left & woods on right ignoring all turnings to reach road. Turn right & follow road WITH GREAT CARE for approx 275m. At road junction, continue ahead & as road turns left, bear right onto footpath. Follow track to reach farm. Bear right & go ahead on footpath between barns. Continue straight ahead on track following left hand edge of field. Go through gate & follow track along right hand edge of next field. Cross stile & continue to follow track to cross railway bridge. Continue ahead following right hand edge of field. At corner of field by footpath sign DO NOT go through gate but turn left following right hand edge of field uphill. Pass farm buildings on right & just after hedge bears right, turn right over stile. After approx. 20m by footpath sign, turn left on track. Follow track downhill, then uphill, then downhill again to reach road. Turn left, go under railway bridge & follow road WITH CARE for approx. 50m before turning right on footpath (N.B. Footpath sign is on left hand side of road). Follow footpath into woods to reach stile. Cross stile & go straight ahead across field following line of wooden posts to reach metal gate.

There is a sign attached to the gate – what does it say?
Go through gate & go
straight ahead following line of fence posts to reach next gate. Go through gate
& turn left. Cross stile & follow track uphill towards house. In front of house,
bear left passing water trough to reach stile. Cross stile & turn right,
following right hand edge of field. At corner, turn left & continue to follow
right hand edge of field to reach kissing gate by houses. Go through kissing
gate & follow footpath to reach road. Turn left & follow road WITH GREAT CARE
for approx. 275m before turning right into
