ORGANISED WALKS

Many of our clubs organise walking events that enable walkers to get together, walk in company and make new friends. If you don't like the idea of walking alone, then an organised walking event may be for you. Route descriptions may be provided or the walk may be led by an experienced member of the organising club. At some walks the routes are way marked so it is not easy to get lost.

At big walking events there are check points on the route where you can get refreshments and rest. Some clubs organise cycling and swimming events alongside their walks.

At most events you will be asked to pay a small fee to enter. You can do this by contacting the organiser before the walk, or you can just turn up on the day and pay your entry fee on arrival.

When you have completed your walk you may have the opportunity to purchase a certificate or some sort of award. You will certainly be offered an IVV stamp, and if you continue to collect these you will be able to claim achievement awards from the IVV at regular intervals. These awards are an excellent way of rewarding children for taking part in walks, but many adults around the world also collect them.
